VAT numbers are verified against the HMRC VAT register for all VAT-registered businesses. Claimed VAT numbers that do not match are rejected at the point of application.

Government ID verification

Every tradesperson completes a government ID check before going live — powered by Stripe Identity. Biometric matching confirms the person behind the ID is the person applying.

Stripe escrow protection

Customer payments are held by Stripe — not EzeAla, not the tradesperson — until you mark the job complete. No one can access the funds without your approval.

Your money never leaves until you say so

When you confirm a booking, payment is captured by Stripe — a regulated financial institution — and held in trust. EzeAla cannot access it. The tradesperson cannot access it. Only your approval releases it.

This is fundamentally different from paying upfront and hoping for the best. Your leverage is intact from start to finish.

What happens if there's a dispute?

Most disputes are resolved within 48 hours. Your funds stay locked until it's resolved.

You raise a dispute

If you are not satisfied, open a dispute in the app before approving payment. Funds remain locked in escrow — your money stays safe.

STEP 02

Both sides submit evidence

Ezra prompts both parties to submit photos, messages, and job notes. All evidence is timestamped and stored on the job record.

STEP 03

Our team reviews

A member of our team examines the evidence within 48 hours and determines a fair outcome — full release, partial refund, or full refund.

STEP 04

Funds are resolved

The escrow is released or refunded based on the decision. Both parties receive a written explanation of the outcome.

All personal data is processed and stored in the UK in accordance with UK GDPR. You can request data deletion at any time from your account settings.

Every Ezra decision — verification, matching, flagging — shows its reasoning. You always know what was checked, what was found, and why a decision was made.

PCI-compliant payments

All payment processing is handled by Stripe — PCI DSS Level 1 certified. EzeAla never stores card numbers. Stripe Identity handles ID verification to the same compliance standard.
